CANDY HEART

Donald sent along a note and some pictures:

Hi John,
Here are some pictures of the tow rig my hang-gliding friends and I purchased. It is based on a Honda Hawk Hondamatic 400cc motorcycle. We plan on using it to get up when the mountain conditions aren't right. Here is a link which shows a someone's scooter tow in action:

Our rig:

Take-up reel instead of rear wheel. When we bought it there was poly rope on it as in the picture but we replaced it with over 5000' of Spectra.

Line pressure gauge. We must maintain proper pressure to pull a glider up.

Pulleys and line pressure sensor.

No front wheel!

Don

Don, I like the "Yacht Club" insignia!

I am almost over my impacted tooth, I did not eat for a week, it hurt too much. Since the doctor said that it was not the tooth, but a pinched nerve, I let it go on much too long before seeing my dentist. The dentist did a root canal within minutes of me arriving: he confirmed it with an x-ray and went right to work. The pain was gone that day, thank goodness for dentists who know what they are doing!!

We had quite a "bird show" this morning. I was just sitting here loading up Donald's pictures, looking out the window and a baby hawk flew up, right outside the window!

He sat there a minute as I took pictures through the window. Pam came down and we watched as he flew down and scared up a squirrel! He is too young to get hold of a full grown squirrel, but for a while he tried!

He posed, sitting first on one perch,

then another,

picture of him with a blossom from our bougainvillea
in the foreground. Then he disappeared for a few minutes.

He came back eating a snack,

and dancing all around!!

It was quite entertaining! Then he took off, chasing the squirrels all over the place!

I have been down with what I call Carpal Tunnel of the head! The jaw muscle and the nerves for your face pass through the same tunnel near your ear. For some reason my muscle has been irritated and swollen. When that happens, the nerve is pinched and I have severe pain as if I had two major tooth aches at once! The doc gave me medicine, but it only lasts for a while and has other side effects, maybe I talk too much!

Darrell sent an e-mail:

Can you update the homepage with these photos...Thanks

Justin is now in Spain on a 2 week TDY, The family is hoping to make it
back to the US in June for a visit!!

Tami is now a Marine, she was sworn in yesterday, a day after her 18th
Birthday. Tina is scheduled to go to Iraq February 21st.

We are very proud of all our kids, but keep these 3 in your prayers as
they serve our country.
