Sorry Nate, they lost. (Nate was hoping Atlanta would win). Denise and Nate motored down to Sarasota Bay last Friday night!!!! Neither had done it before alone, but they made it!!!! I had to teach MBE's in Deland on Saturday but Denise and Nate did not wait for me and took off. I drove down Saturday night. Nate drove the car back and Denise and I came back tonight. We ran into a 15 minue rain but it was nice and warm and we had no trouble. We but have to work tomorrow. I have added three new pictures (from Denise's brother Charles) on the picture page.

Time is flying! I am taking an evening class from 4 til 10 every evening. My days at work go quickly then class then bed! Denise and Nathan are happily awaiting my return at 10:30, which is nice.

NATHAN HAS DECIDED TO JOIN THE COAST GUARD!

This was the message when I came home last night. He will get a $2000 bonus for going in!

We almost got off to go see Dad and Mom L. yesterday, but we got stopped by the wind! It was blowing 20 miles per hour and we could not safely get out of the slip, much less get down there! We started to go, undid the lines and found that the wind was so strong that we would have banged up against the other boats and smashed our boat before we got out. SO we ate lunch in the boat and imagined we were on our way, then went to see the movie "Patch Adams". I give it 5 stars. We laughed and cried and were very proud of him.
Today the tide is out and we cannot get out of the marina, oh well, we are getting a lot of things done. I need to get to the store and get a handle to repair the window before it rains. Check out the "Interesting things to download" button, (left).

I finally got the entire system up and runing at the office! We got in the final piece yesterday and now everyone will receive faxes at their computer and be able to send them as well! I also got remote access working, the problem was in having both NETBEUI and TCP/IP running at the same time, RAS would not work with both, but gave no error message, just sat there with no communication.

I finally got to testify on Thusday; on Friday they declaired a mistrial as it was going too slow, now we have to start all over again; if our client wants to that is!
This weekend Denise went to Atlanta with AnneMarie. They spent 11 hours in a mall there! Nate and I went sailing! We had a few adventures (no matches, not enough food, dragged anchor, two dead batteries - they had boiled dry) but we got a lot of sun, had a lot of fun and got home safely. The weather has been perfect, 80's day, 60's night, and all sunny.
I set all 300 pictures on the home page into a gallery (left). Periodically, as I take more pictures, I will update it rather than make pages for them.
Several people have told me they sent e-mail recently, I have not received any for a few days and just tried sending myself an e-mail, it worked, I do not know why it hasn't worked for you, sorry.

Tomorrow I go to court, as an expert witness. I have been practicing for a week. I hope to bring our client a million bucks!

Still is funny writting 1999!
Denise and I rode our bikes up to Dunedin yesterday, a forty mile ride. We missed Darrell by twenty minutes, he was there for the art show until noon, we got there twenty after. On the way back my bike threw the chain and we stopped to have it repaired. I walked the bike into the shop, the young shopkeeper walked right by me and up the hill to see Denise 's bike. He was enthralled with it. He had two racing bikes but wished he had one as nice as Denise's!

Guest writer Jim again:

Well everyone, it has been a while since I have written, and I am sorry.  On Saturday, 2 January, Michelle flew out and arrived in Maine with Rolly, the dog.  She just made it through Cincinnati by the skin of her teeth.  The weather gave us a break for just the few hours that it took for her to connect from Dallas, on her way to Bangor.  She and Rolly are loving it up there in the clean air, while Duke the cat and I are struggling to get things wrapped up here in polluted Mexico.  Oops, El Paso. Same thing.  I will be starting for home in the afternoon of the 13th, if all goes well.  My sadistic Sergeant Major wants me out of here, but you would never know it, as hard as he seems to want to make it for me to leave.  I think he enjoys it.  I don't show him any intimidation and he hates that.  If everyone were that way, he would just wilt away, I think.  Oh well, 6 more days and I will never have to see this place or people again.  This is the last night I will have the computer, as they are packing it tomorrow, so I will write when I get home, to let all know that I made it safely.  Wish for me that the weather is only mildly unpleasant on my way home. Jim and Duke (the cat)

NEWS FLASH FROM SUE AND AL:

Dear Friends,
It is that time of year when we would like to invite you all to become involved with the Stone Mountain Farm Lab Lotto. As the astute among you have already noticed, the name Stone Mountain Retreat no longer is applicable. We are now to be called Stone Mountain Farm. All checks and correspondence are to be addressed accordingly. We, according to the IRS, will no longer be able to exist as the Retreat. So, in order to circumvent the fine people at the IRS, we have made some changes. You must understand, we are still the same fine people that we have always been, we have just changed our name.

Now, back to the Lab Lotto. Here are the rules: Only one entry per family or household. A locatable 911 address must be used for all correspondence. Only one entry per envelope. If can get your entry in soon, you will be able to avoid the postal increase that is just around the corner. We will accept more than one entry per e-mail address. We do request that you send only one entry per e-mail message. The reason for this reasonable request is that our lotto data entry person is computer challenged, in addition to being cixelysd, and finds it difficult to handle more than one entry per message. In order to help meet our rising costs of this Lotto we find it necessary to raise our entry fee. This is a extremely regrettable decision, but one which is absolutely necessary. The entry fee increase is a miniscule 10%. A little help for those of you who are memory or mathematically challenged, the entry fee for 1999 is $1.10. We do not accept any of the major credit cards, you will have to sent your fee either by fax, mail or e-mail. As we have had several bad experiences with the following two items, no IOU's or personal checks will be accepted either.

Here is some of the background or the two dogs which are involved in this year's Lotto. Rufus, a chocolate male owned by A. J. and soon to be Jen McVetty. Shadow, a black female owned by Mike, Michaela and Molly McVetty. This is the second litter for Rufus and the first for Shadow. As previously done we want to know the total number in the litter and your best guestimates on the number of females and the number of males. You must also guess the colors of the various genders.
What are you going to win? A very relaxing week at the Stone Mountain Farm, that's what. You will have your choice of either our deluxe accommodations in our luxurious travel trailer located on the shores of Stone Mountain Farm Pond or you may choose to retreat to the cozy mini trailer located on a very infrequently traveled road just a few feet from the pond. Free use of any of our boats is to be included. Be sure to get your entry in early so that you can choose which boat you went to have for your own personal use for the entire week of your stay. One of our boats has a manually operated aqueous removal system that requires a certain amount of operation during the utilization of the boat. All food and utilities are not included in this package. Any tax and/or gratuities are not included.

BULLETIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  BULLETIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BULLETIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!      A recent examination of Abby, our Yellow Lab has confirmed that she too is in pupperly manner. This means that you, the lucky contestant, will be able to enter both Lab Lottos under our very generous twofur policy. For the same $1.10 fee you can win twice. Just imagine, two weeks at Stone Mountain Farm and both boats at your disposal. Enter now and enter often.          I know that for many of you winning this contest would be the dream of a lifetime. I can only wish you the best of luck in our first Lotto of 1999.

Sincerely,   AL   Lead Officer Depravation Department

It seems funny typing in 1999.
We had a good time down celebrating Dad L's birthday last night. Today I am taking the car in to find the transmission fluid leak, cutting bushes, then we hope to go out to show off the lights on the boat for one last time.
I got several changes in e-mail addresses from Dad L, see the family data page.

Today at 1:30 I received my separation orders!  I will be out of the Army officially on the 13th of January.  Michelle should be flying home on the 2nd or 3rd.  She will get tickets tomorrow, and we will let you know then exactly when she will be there.  I also picked up my clearing papers today, so for the next couple of weeks I will be clearing. I have contacted some potential future employers and have been getting good responses, so lets hope I get some interview dates soon!  Well, about all for now.  Michelle says hi to all and we will write again tomorrow to let you know the date that she will be flying.                                                  Jim and Michelle.  See you soon! :-)
